July 2005 Photos

CPL Byrd working during a Sand Storm

Here I am on the main road of QAJ. We were providing security for a dismounted patrol that was getting intel from the locals.

Sniper Team

SPC Brandon Morris overwatching MSR Michigan, a highway where we have had problems in the past. He is shooting the M107 .50 Cal Sniper Rifle.

Close Call

SGT Brian Furrow examines a piece of shrapnel that flew by his vehicle after an IED (roadside bomb) blew just up the street from his location.

Uncovered Graves

We came across an area where some graves were uncovered by some local diggers. They were getting sand to make cement. From what we can tell these graves date back to approximately 1500BC.

Close Up

We did some research to find that this type of burial was done by a group that controlled this area 3500 years ago. To my knowledge there were only a few examples of this burial available for examination before we found these. We have turned this into our chain of command to try and get this area protected.

Uncovered Relic

Here is a vase that was on the surface of the cliff that was being dug into. This is a large area where these graves are being found. From what we see without really searching I could guess there to be at least 10,000 graves in this area. There is a lot of history here.

SPC Trung Pham

PFC Pham was promoted to the rank of Specialist while in Iraq.

Al Fallujah

Here is a few pictures of Al Fallujah as we drove through going to Baghdad.

More from the Palace

SGT Perez and CPL Byrd

Here we are in front of the Palace. The only way we were able to get in was to score a few 'Palace Security' Badges. We have connections.
